  1. 01Strategy and audit (weeks 1-2)
  2. 02Design and content (weeks 3-6)
  3. 03Development and integration (weeks 7-12)
  4. 04SEO migration and redirects
  5. 05Launch and 90-day optimization

A B2B website redesign is one of the highest-leverage projects a marketing leader can run - most clients see a 40-60% lift in conversion within 90 days, plus a 20-40% lift in organic traffic within 6 months. Done wrong, a redesign can destroy years of SEO equity and revenue. This is the 47-step process we use on every B2B redesign: strategy, audit, design, content, development, SEO migration, launch, and 90-day optimization. The output is a checklist you can run internally or with any agency.

01Strategy and audit (weeks 1-2)

Step 1: kickoff with the leadership team. Define the business goal (revenue, leads, brand). Set success metrics (conversion rate, organic traffic, MQLs). Step 2: stakeholder interviews. 10-15 internal interviews (sales, marketing, customer success, leadership). Find out what is working, what is not, and what is missing. Step 3: customer interviews. 5-10 customer interviews to understand the buying journey. Step 4: analytics audit. GA4 audit (events, conversions, attribution). Search Console audit (index coverage, top 50 keywords, top 50 pages). Step 5: competitive audit. 5-10 competitor sites. Note the patterns: positioning, pricing, social proof, content depth. Step 6: SEO audit. Technical SEO, content gaps, backlink profile. Step 7: brand and messaging audit. Voice, tone, visual identity, value proposition. Step 8: sitemap and IA. New sitemap, page hierarchy, navigation. Step 9: tech stack decision. Next.js, Webflow, Sanity, Contentful, etc. Step 10: design partner and content partner identified.

02Design and content (weeks 3-6)

Step 11: brand workshop. Define or refine brand voice, tone, visual identity. Step 12: messaging framework. Tagline, value prop, positioning, pillar messaging. Step 13: sitemap and wireframes. Low-fidelity wireframes for every page template. Step 14: design system. Type scale, color, spacing, components. Step 15: home page design. Hero, value prop, social proof, product preview, CTA. Step 16: core page designs. Pricing, Features, About, Contact, Case Studies. Step 17: blog and resource templates. Step 18: mobile and responsive designs. Step 19: motion and micro-interactions. Framer Motion, GSAP, Lottie where they earn their keep. Step 20: design review and feedback rounds (2 rounds). Step 21: copy and content production. Homepage, pillar pages, case studies, blog posts, glossary. Step 22: photography and asset production. Step 23: OG and social card designs. Step 24: design handoff to engineering (Figma, dev-ready specs).

03Development and integration (weeks 7-12)

Step 25: technical setup. Next.js + Sanity (or chosen stack), Vercel/Cloudflare, Git, CI/CD. Step 26: design system implementation. Tailwind tokens, shadcn/ui or custom components. Step 27: component library. Header, footer, hero, section blocks, cards, forms. Step 28: page templates. Home, feature, pricing, about, contact, blog index, blog post, case study. Step 29: dynamic routes. [slug] for blog, case studies, services, locations, industries. Step 30: CMS integration. Sanity Studio with schemas for all content types. Step 31: form integrations. HubSpot, Marketo, native form, CRM sync. Step 32: analytics setup. GA4, Search Console, Bing, PostHog, Hotjar, custom events. Step 33: SEO foundations. Metadata API, sitemap.ts, robots.ts, llms.txt, llms-full.txt, schema markup. Step 34: performance work. Image optimization, code splitting, edge caching. Step 35: accessibility. WCAG 2.2 AA, keyboard nav, screen reader testing. Step 36: QA pass. Cross-browser, cross-device, Lighthouse 95+, broken links, 404s, edge cases. Step 37: staging review and UAT. Step 38: content population. Migrate and rewrite content from the old site.

04SEO migration and redirects

Step 39: URL mapping. Map every old URL to a new URL (1:1 or 301 redirect). Step 40: redirect implementation. Test 100% of redirects. Step 41: schema validation. Organization, Person, Article, FAQ, HowTo, Product, BreadcrumbList on every page. Step 42: internal linking audit. Hub-and-spoke, descriptive anchor text, related content. Step 43: sitemap submission. Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools. Step 44: hreflang for multi-language. Step 45: pre-launch SEO baseline. Pull benchmark traffic, rankings, conversions. Step 46: 404 monitoring. Set up alerts for new 404s in week 1.

05Launch and 90-day optimization

Step 47: launch and 90-day optimization. Day 1: smoke test every page, every form, every CTA. Week 1: monitor index coverage, organic traffic, conversion, fix any 404s or 302 chains. Day 30: full SEO audit, broken link check, schema validation, content gaps, comparison of pre/post traffic and conversion. Day 60: heatmap and session recording review, identify UX issues, prioritize fixes. Day 90: ROI report - conversion rate lift, organic traffic lift, MQL lift, attributed revenue. Most clients see 40-60% lift in conversion by day 90, 20-40% lift in organic traffic by month 6. The pattern: 1-2 months of post-launch iteration unlocks most of the value. The new site is a foundation, not a finish line.

Frequently asked questions

Web Development — quick answers

01How long does a B2B website redesign take?
Standard B2B redesign: 10-14 weeks. Complex (multi-product, multi-language, custom integrations): 16-24 weeks. The bottleneck is almost always content and review cycles, not engineering. We have shipped in 6 weeks for time-sensitive projects and 6 months for enterprise. Budget 12 weeks for a typical mid-market SaaS redesign.
02How much does a B2B website redesign cost?
Standard redesign (10-15 pages, single product): $15,000-$40,000. Complex redesign (30+ pages, multi-product, custom integrations): $50,000-$120,000+. Enterprise redesign (multi-region, multi-brand, complex integrations): $100,000-$500,000+. The 80/20 of cost is design + content, not engineering. We do project-based pricing with a fixed bid after the audit.
03Will a redesign hurt my SEO?
If you implement 301 redirects correctly, preserve schema markup, and submit a new sitemap, the impact is neutral-to-positive. Most clients see a temporary 5-15% dip in organic traffic for 4-8 weeks during the redirect migration, then recovery to baseline and lift to 20-40% above baseline within 6 months. The biggest SEO risk is URL structure changes without proper redirects - that destroys equity.
04What is the most common reason a redesign fails?
Three reasons. (1) No clear success metrics at the start - the team cannot tell if it worked. (2) Skipping the SEO migration - 80% of redesigns we audit have broken redirects, lost schema, or lost content. (3) Launching and walking away - the first 30 days of post-launch iteration is where most of the value is captured. We force a 90-day optimization phase into every engagement.
05Should I redesign or iterate?
Iterate (refine copy, design, CRO on the current site) when: the current site is fundamentally sound but needs 20-40% conversion lift. Redesign when: the current site is more than 3 years old, the tech stack is end-of-life, the brand has changed, or you need a 50%+ lift in conversion. Most companies over-redesign - we recommend 3-5 quarterly iteration cycles before a full redesign.
